August 7 is National Night Out

National Night Out, a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, will be celebrated at more than a dozen locations in Hutchinson on Tuesday, Aug. 7. Hutchinson has a long tradition of celebrating National Night Out. The annual event is attended by hundreds of residents and organized at the neighborhood level to strengthen bonds and prevent crime. Each party is unique. Some neighborhood parties take place in parks, some in parking lots and others on blockaded streets. Many offer food, games and prizes. All offer opportunities for neighbors to get to know each other better. Many also distribute crime-prevention literature. Public safety personnel try to visit as many parties as possible.
