Heart of Hutch in ACTION

Heart of Hutch had a table at the Meeker-McLeod-Sibley Healthy Community Forum today.  Hosted by the Community Leadership Team, the event provided an opportunity to hear MN’s current health statistics from Dr. Ehlinger, Minnesota Commissioner of Health.  It was also an opportunity for local recipients of Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) monies to share their stories.  Heart of Hutch’s own Tracy Hassan represented our group and was able to share how much these monies have helped support some of the key health successes in our community.  Most notably, SHIP monies have been used towards the Walk/Bike to School Day with Park Elementary as well as the Farmer’s Market Food Demos/Tastings.

As Dr. Ehlinger put it today, issues of public health are political, but non-partisan.  It is important to make sure local legislation and civic leaders understand how our community can benefit from these resources towards reducing health care costs, developing sustainable solutions, and increasing the understanding of local Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) efforts.

With the event hosted at the Event Center in Hutchinson, we were pleased to see how well represented Hutchinson was with local policy makers.  Thank you for supporting the efforts of Heart of Hutch and other community members and organizations making a positive impact on health in our community. And for all of you who volunteer with Heart of Hutch, know that we couldn’t have had this successes without you.  If you haven’t volunteered with us before, click on ‘Get Involved’.
