Hutchinson Health Employees Help Ducklings

Not only does Hutchinson Health give care to human patients, but also a mallard hen duck who nested in our flower garden patio area at the Hutchinson Health Clinic. For those of us who have been following the progression of this mother duck; from the laying of her eggs, to her sitting on her nest. Through the recent storms, rain, and of course the heat. Our staff has feed, watered, and even tried to figured out a way to shade her and make her comfortable. We were gently reminded she is an outside bird and has lots of natural instincts to keep herself and nest safe. Thanks to Dale Kraemer, in Facilities, who took the mom and her chicks to a safer place and closer to water, with no problem other than mom not being very happy. Once she saw her chicks, all was well. Thanks to our staff who took such good care of the family. Hopefully we will see her again next year. It was fun!

Back to School Comes Early Next Year

playing soccerWith the new construction project and exciting changes at the Hutchinson High School starting this year, the Hutchinson school district made the decision to adjust the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school calendar year to accommodate construction needs.

Normally families have until after Labor Day to prepare for going back to school, but this year grades 2 through 12 start school on Monday, August 22, 2016. With the shortened summer break, it’s important to schedule your back to school appointments early so you can get in to see your preferred provider and get school forms and immunizations to the school as required.

Some of the items you may need to take care of prior to school include:

  • Annual wellness check-ups and immunizations
  • Immunization documents for school forms (request from our records department, if needed)
  • Allergy and medication reviews; school nurse may need specific documents to adhere to a treatment plan and/or administer medication at school
  • Sports physicals; these are different than regular wellness check-ups and require a specific form signed by your physician
  • Pre-school/kindergarten physicals

Hutchinson Health is ready to help you schedule your school wellness appointments and sports physicals, so you can relax and enjoy the rest of the summer!
