Student Experiences

Job Shadows and InternshipsPart of our role in living out our mission of advancing health with our community is to offer student experiences.

We believe it’s essential to get students excited about a career in healthcare and provide an experience in fostering a workplace where all can thrive. Students at Hutchinson Health will become familiar with our values in delivering excellent care supported by evidence-based medical science, creating innovative models of care, and promoting health and wellness with our community.

Hutchinson Health employees are devoted to providing a caring, personal experience for each patient, and we look forward to assisting students in a learning environment that will benefit our community and generations to come.

Types of Student Experiences include:

  • Job Shadow: Learn about a particular profession by accompanying an experienced worker for a few hours as they perform a job. This experience helps the student decide if the profession is suitable for them.
  • Internship: Provides real world experience to those looking to gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular career field. These experiences are typically done to satisfy college requirements for graduation. They are relatively short term in nature with the primary focus on obtaining on-the-job training and taking what’s learned in the classroom and applying it to the real world. Internships require an executed contract between HH and the affiliated school which may take a few months to complete, so submit your request early.

We require a lead time of the following prior to your desired experience date:

  • Shadows – 2 weeks
  • Interns – 8 weeks
