New President for Hutchinson Health

We are pleased to announce that James (Jim) Lyons will be the new President of Hutchinson Health, effective Friday, April 12. Jim brings extensive experience in hospital and care group leadership to our team, making him uniquely qualified for this role. He has served in multiple roles with Hutchinson Health dating back to 1996, most recently as our Chief of Clinic Operations. In these roles, he has been instrumental in our work to integrate our hospital and medical group, develop a culture of quality improvement and build strong partnerships with our community. As a leader, Jim has shown a commitment to improving the health and quality of life for the people of Hutchinson and the surrounding communities. March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Each year, over 2,200 Minnesotans are diagnosed with colorectal cancer.  And sadly, more than 700 die from it.  Colon cancer is in fact the no. 2 cancer killer in the United States as a whole – even though it’s 90 percent curable if caught early. That’s why getting screened for this cancer is so important. The American Cancer Society says regular screenings should start at age 45 for African Americans and Native Americans, who are at higher risk for the disease. And screening should start at age 50 for all other races and ethnicities, since risk increases with age across the board. In Minnesota, though, only 71 percent of the adults who have reached these ages are getting timely screenings.  And screening rates among populations of color are even lower at only 56.2 ... New Hospitalist TeleMedicine Program

There's a possibility you may receive inpatient care, from a doctor located off site, starting this month. This telemedicine program delivers the care you need via a cart.  A nurse will be in the room with you during the visit. This allows the best possible care to be delivered to you, as conveniently as possible. Hutchinson Health is excited to be one of the facilities implementing this technology.  HealthPartners has been using Telemedicine at four other sites for the past year, with great success.
