Homemade Cough Syrup

Looking for a homemade, natural cough syrup? Dr. Leah Willson, pediatrician, shares a couple recipes for adults and children. Not intended for babies under 12 months.

Effective Natural Homemade Cough Syrup recipe for children 1 year and older.

1 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
One level teaspoon ginger powder
2 Tablespoons honey
1/8 teaspoon salt (dash)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (dash)
Blend in a blender or food processor until smooth, no lumps of powder. Store in refrigerator.
Can give 1 to 2 teaspoons every 2 hours as needed for cough.

1/4 cup pineapple juice and 1/4 cup honey
or
1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup honey
Blend well. Store in refrigerator. Can be given as needed for cough.
NOT for children under 12 months.
