Measles Information

Are you concerned about the recent measles outbreak? Here is some information:
Getting vaccinated is the best method to prevent getting measles.

1.) Infants under the age of 6 months can’t be given the MMR, but if they are between 6 months and 12 months, they can get a dose. Unfortunately, if it is even one day prior to their 1st birthday, it won’t count as part of the two dose series (and they will ultimately get three doses total).
2.) Technically, the second dose of MMR can be given 28 days after the first dose.
Usually the second MMR is given around age 4 or 5. You do not have to have a physician’s orders to get your child vaccinated. You can make a nurse only appointment at Hutchinson Health to have an MMR vaccine administered at any time Monday – Friday from 8-12 and 1-4:30 and on Saturdays from 9-11:30.

If you have been exposed or have any questions call your provider and/or check your vaccination records.
