Cardiovascular Health

We’re committed to keeping you healthy – heart and soul.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women and men in this country, claiming more lives than all cancers combined. While heart disease exists in different forms, it often shows no symptoms. This means that many people don’t even think about their hearts until something serious happens. Are you at risk?

You can avoid long-term heart problems — and even save your life — by identifying cardiac disease at its earliest stage.

Working in partnership with cardiologists from Park Nicollet and the Minneapolis Heart Institute, we offer a full range of cardiovascular specialties, working together toward excellence in all areas of heart disease prevention and management.

Cardiac Calcium Scoring

Heart disease, also known as Coronary Artery Disease, occurs when the arteries that carry blood and oxygen to the heart become clogged with plaque. The plaque build-up slows the flow of blood to the heart. If left untreated, heart failure may result.

Advanced Technology

Computerized tomography (CT) has revolutionized our ability to detect the presence of calcified plaque in the coronary arteries. Your cardiac calcium “score,” along with other indicators, presents an overall picture of your heart health.

Quick Answers

The exam is painless, fast and easy. You will lie on a table and hold your breath for 10-20 seconds, while a heart scan produces a picture of your coronary arteries. More importantly, the scanner produces a picture of your future risk for heart disease, while there’s still time to do something about it.
