Occupational Health performs a variety of evaluations and examinations for employers looking to hire new employees and can cater the screening process to the job requirements. Our pre-screening process takes into account the applicant’s ability to safely perform the necessary physical functions of a specific job and avoid injuries by offering these services.

What is Pre-Work Screening?
It is functional testing to determine an applicant’s ability to safely perform the necessary physical functions of a specific job. The screen is designed to replicate the functional requirements of the job and is completed by certified Occupational and Physical Therapists. This helps the employer to assure they hire an employee who can physically perform the necessary physical components of the job at the time of hire.
Physical Job Functions for Screening Might Include:
- Production work with repetitive motion
- Heavy lifting and/or repetitive lifting
- Carry, pushing, pulling, climbing
- Required use of respirators
- Returning to work post-injury or illness

DOT Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Examinations
As Certified Medical Examiners, we will evaluate the driver’s medical history, laboratory results, and perform a complete physical exam to certify the driver under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. We also complete re-certifications, drug and alcohol testing and return-to-work examinations for these drivers.
Return-to-Work Exams & Post-Injury Care
For patients who encounter illnesses or injuries and have been unable to work due to these limitations, we can evaluate and determine their ability to return to work safely. Our staff works with our rehab specialists in Occupational and Physical Therapy who are certified by WorkWell Systems, an International provider of work-related services. They can assist patients through Work Conditioning (work-related intensive and goal-oriented treatment program designed to restore the patient’s physical capacity and function for return to work) and Functional Capacity Evaluation (comprehensive, standardized, and objective test of a person’s physical ability to perform work-related tasks).
Functional Job Assessment
Our Occupational and Physical Therapy group can perform on-site functional job assessments and work with you to create functional job descriptions. These analyses use objective data to determine what capabilities a hired employee would need to possess in order to complete the job requirements, making the hiring and evaluating process easier for you.
Respirator Evaluation and Fit Testing
Employment that requires the use of a respirator also requires employee medical evaluation and device fit testing. We can assess the wellness and need for fit testing on an individual basis and provide spirometry testing when applicable for the employee.
Surveillance Testing and Examinations
Some employees require ongoing testing and evaluations, which we can provide based on the employer’s needs. We offer hearing, vision and laboratory testing as well as in-office evaluation and physical examination.

- Biometric screening
- Health fairs
- Educational presentations
