Today is National Rural Health Day
We’re proud of our team that brings above and beyond care to our rural communities.
Here is just a handful of the ways that we demonstrate our commitment to the rural communities we serve:
• Our primary care clinic is certified as a Health Care Home with the Minnesota Department of Health, which means it’s proven to provide team-based, coordinated, patient-centered care;
• We implemented drive-up COVID-19 testing to offer a convenient option to our community members.
• We also innovated to offer drive-through blood draws for our anticoagulation patients, who can avoid coming into the clinic by using this option.
• Our mental health clinic offers a variety of programs and groups, including dialectic behavioral therapy, chemical dependency group, recovering from shame and guilt group and more.
For our work in rural medicine, we were today honored by The Chartis Center of Rural Health and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) for overall excellence in patient outcomes.
Joy May, RN, a Health Care Home Guide Lead, chose to work at Hutchinson Health so she could combine her love of nursing with the ability to improve population health in her own community.
“Working and living in the same community gives me a connection with our patients,” she said. “I love making health care easier for our patients, especially as things seem to be getting more complicated in our lives! The patients we work with are really appreciative. This is a job where we get thanked daily. It’s very rewarding.”
We’re proud to be a part of our community. Happy Rural Health Day, Hutchinson! #PowerOfRural
