Toni Peterson, OTR/L,CFCE

Toni Peterson, OTR/L,CFCE is on Hutchinson Health’s Occupational Rehabilitation team. Why did she choose occupational therapy?
“I have been an occupational therapist(OT) for 26 years. When considering a future, the discussion of the OT field intrigued me (yes discussion, remember back then there wasn’t the internet to check out, what is OT?) Learning more about how we as humans function, and how I can help in so many different ways as an OT to assist individuals improve their quality of life, I thought “that is it, I want to be an OT.” Over the years this occupation has been very rewarding to me. Knowing that I have made a difference in an individual’s life by helping them increase their range of motion and/or strength, improved cognitive skills, teaching them adaptive techniques to help complete their normal daily activities, educating on body mechanics for general life tasks and/or their working environments . To know that I have helped them in any of these areas, making their life more rewarding, is my reward for being an OT. “~ Toni
